What’s new

What shipped, newest first, in the words of the people who use it. The roadmap says what is coming; this says what is here.

  1. Teams, comparisons and a plainer privacy page

    • A Teams page: one account, every team you work with. It is in a private pilot before it opens to everyone.
    • Comparison pages against FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Xero and a spreadsheet, with every claim sourced and dated.
    • Your data, in plain English: where it lives, what is kept, the export and delete you run yourself.
    • A proper page when something goes wrong, and none of the old sign-in splash: sign in and you are on your dashboard.
    • A tab left open across an update now reloads itself once instead of failing on the next click.
    • A press and brand page, with the logo, colours and product images to download.
    • A welcome guide for new accounts: a short step-by-step tour of the pages, with Next and Skip. Open it again, or switch it back on, from Settings, Onboarding.
    • The mileage log now counts: the Tax page, the tax pot on the dashboard and the Self Assessment car, van and travel box include the year’s allowance at the HMRC rates.
    • Mileage for 2026/27 at 55p a mile for the first 10,000 business miles, as published by gov.uk. Journeys already logged this year are recalculated when you open the log; earlier years stay at 45p.

  2. Fewer pages, tidier pages

    • Tasks holds the log and Today as tabs. Clients holds projects and customers. Expenses holds mileage and home office. Tax holds take-home pay. Old addresses still work.
    • Dashboard tiles you can drag, resize, add and remove, saved as your own layout.
    • A shorter sidebar with folding groups, and Support as an item.
    • The take-home marginal rate now uses the taxed income and the right bands. Outstanding on the Invoices page includes overdue invoices.
    • For 2026/27: Class 2 National Insurance at £3.65 a week and the small profits threshold at £7,105, as published by gov.uk.

  3. A new look and a new logo

    • The public site redesigned: light, editorial, one idea per screen.
    • The app brought onto the same rules, with light mode finished.
    • A new mark and wordmark, favicons and a social card.
    • A free UK freelance tax calculator on the site, no account needed.

  4. Security and the basics

    • Security headers on every page, and a password reset flow.
    • Scottish income tax thresholds corrected by tax year in take-home pay.
    • Self Assessment box numbers aligned with HMRC’s 2025/26 SA103S and SA103F forms.
    • The timer starts and stops from New Entry and the toolbar as it should, and saves that used to hang silently no longer do.

  5. A full visual refresh

    • The site and the app restyled. Since replaced by the September design, which kept the good parts and dropped the glow.

  6. The public beta opens

    • Sign up yourself, no card, and get a confirmation email.
    • Example data to explore, with one button to clear it when you want to start on your own.
    • Every plan free while the beta is open.
