About F The Hours
Built by a freelancer to make the admin of being self-employed in the UK smaller.
The story
F The Hours started with a stack of spreadsheets, a missed invoice and a tax bill that arrived bigger than expected. Like most freelancers and sole traders in the UK, the founder spent more time on admin than on the work, and every off-the-shelf tool either ignored UK tax or buried it under jargon written for accountants.
So we built the tool we wished existed: one place to log time, send invoices that look professional, track expenses and mileage, and see what HMRC will want in January while there is still time to set it aside. No accountant is needed for the basics.
We are a small team. We ship often, listen carefully and care about the details. If something feels off, the contact page is read by a person, usually the one who built the feature.
What we believe
- Built by a freelancer
- F The Hours started as a personal frustration: spreadsheets, half-finished invoices and tax surprises in January. Every feature is shaped by real day-to-day self-employment.
- UK first, always
- HMRC rates, Self Assessment boxes, the approved mileage rates, payments on account. UK tax is the spine of the product, not an add-on.
- Simple beats clever
- One feature that works beats ten that need a tutorial. If you cannot use something within a minute of opening it, it is not finished.
- Your data is yours
- Export everything at any time. No lock-in, no selling your data, no advertisers. You pay us, and that is the whole deal.
